ABC POZNAN REPORT
The arrest and charges against the participants of the demonstration
against U.S. missile base in Poland.

Before 6 a.m. we heard banging at the door, I would like to emphasize that it was not knocking, it was banging the door with a fist. The owner of the flat went to the door and said he can see policemen in the staircase but couldn't tell how many of them. He came back to the room where most of the not sleeping people were and told us what he's just seen. He went out to the staircase, together with a friend who stood in the door. The cops were aggressive and were shouting at them using swearwords. At one point, one policemen knocked the owner of the flat down, the other friend tried to close the door and as asking the others for help. At that point, it actually started to be quite noisy, because the other people's reaction was loud and immediate. We were holding the door asking the cops about the reason of their intervention and asking for showing their IDs. They replied with tons of swearwords ("Open the fucking door", "Shut the fuck up!", "You're fucked!"). The door were slightly open because one of the cops put a baton in them. We were holding the door for a while and at one point people started to choke, felt throat burning, the cops didn't warn us they'd use pepper spray. The people dispersed. They were choking. I went to the open window to get some fresh air and then I noticed few more cops running to the flat. Policemen ran into the flat. All of us inside sat down. The cops were stamping on people still sleeping in their sleeping bags
Days of action in defense of squats and autonomous spaces in Poznan
A week after the international days of action in defense of squats and autonomous spaces, a demo under the same slogans took place in Poznan, Poland. At the Old Market Square there were samba drummers, Food not Bombs, fireshow, tallbike wars, speeches about squats and autonomous spaces, soundsystem and screening of videos from European squats' evictions & slideshow about Rozbrat and squatting in general.
23 Polish antimilitarist activists arrested
23 Polish antimilitarist activists were violently arrested on Sunday (30/03/2008) at a private flat of one of them morning after coming back from a demonstration after-party in Slupsk in nothern Poland.
On Saturday (29/03/2008) noon a demonstration against the plans of locating up to ten silo-based long-range missile defence interceptors in Poland took place in Slupsk, a city in northern Poland. The military base where the shield would be placed is located near this city. Around 500 people took part in a peaceful march in the city centre, after that around 50 people came to the military base and tried to come inside but were stopped by the police. Nobody was arrested, one person got a fine for using swearwords and drinking beer.
At night
a techno party organized by anti-war activists was organized at one
of the local pubs in Slupsk. The activists came back to their flat and
around 6 a.m. cops raided their house and arrested the people inside,
aged 18 to 35. The police used heavy violence, beating up the activists
with batons and using pepper spray. One of the activists had his arm
broken and later managed to run away from the hospital.

On
Saturday night (1/03/2008) Rozbrat squat activists dropped a banner
in Poznan center saying
"We remember Copenhagen! We will not give you Rozbrat! Ungdomshuset
1983-1/03/2007,
Rozbrat 1994-?".
Interview with Rozbrat activist
This interview was published in 31st issue of "Abolishing the Borders from Below", anarchist journal from Eastern Europe.
"Actually, when you think about anarchist movement in Poznan, you think exactly about Rozbrat, as a place that gathers free-thinking and anarchist milieus. For now it is quite difficult to imagine the anarchist movement without Rozbrat. Most of the activists from - what you call today - the anarchist movement in Poland became active when Rozbrat already existed. It means that they somehow had to refer to this active centre in Poznan. During those years hundreds of anarchist meetings, discussions and congresses took place here. There are not many anarchists in Poland who haven't had any relation to this place. I think it wouldn't be an exaggeration if I said that the anarchist milieu that is active around Rozbrat is today the oldest continuously active and the most diverse milieu in Poland. For the anarchist movement in Poland, relatively young and undermined by plagues of evanescence, such experience is a value itself."
